I get that Dungreed is an indiegame, and it has come a long way in its controls, but it's still pretty clunky. The town, which serves as a hub, feels bland, and so do most of the areas. Where games like Owlboy, Hollow Knight and Dead Cells excel in this area, it's hard to get too caught up in the setting and story. That doesn't help the atmosphere in the game, but that is the next point. Cons: - The music is kinda generic, sometimes even overpowering. The upgrade system works not as a plain level up, but rather you investing points in certain perks and you're able to shift them around at your leisure. Enemy variety is probably one of the best in any roguelike to date.

The enemies all telegraph their moves, but not too much. They serve as gatekeepers to new areas and that fits perfectly with how the game progression is designed. The bosses, without spoiling anything, are great.
